The EMSA 2014 Conference is organized by the Institute of Sensor & Actuator Systems, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Vienna University of Technology.

The Institute of Sensor and Actuator Systems has three focal activities in research and teaching, represented by three Research Departments:

      Industrial Sensor Systems (ISS)
Head: Ao.Univ.Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Franz Keplinger

      Applied Electronic Materials (AEM)
Head: Ao.Univ.Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Johann Nicolics

      Microsystems Technology (MST)
Head: Univ.Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schmid

Two smaller groups are in charge of Information Technology for Research and Education (IT) and Management and Administration (ADM), respectively.
The Institute represents in its teaching the areas of materials, industrial electronics, sensors, and microsystems technology from basic courses to special classes in the study branches "Microelectronics",  "Automation Technology" and "Biomedical Engineering". In addition, the Institute offers classes in the group "Social Science and Economy" and numerous optional classes.
